About Dance Towards Health
Dance Towards Health, Inc. (DTH) is a Non-Profit, Health Education Organization, incorporated in the State of Georgia. The program was created to offer a non-competitive environment where participants feel comfortable engaging in recreational dance workshops, healthy and low-cost cooking demonstrations, and stress management techniques. The program was designed around the premise that utilizing dance would attract participants that already love to dance, as well as individuals who do not enjoy traditional methods of exercise.
Mission Statement:
The mission of this program is to educate children, teens, and adults who are currently or at risk of becoming overweight or obese about the benefits of regular physical activity, such as dance, how to prevent or reduce excessive weight gain by choosing healthier food options; To provide program participants with a non-competitive atmosphere to enjoy dancing with the purpose of improving their health.
Program Goals:
The goals for this program center around our desire to increase access to programs that educate and promote the role physical activity plays in reducing the risk of becoming overweight or obese. We realize that if we catch children and adolescents early enough about the behavioral changes necessary for prevention of obesity--lifelong healthy habits can form, and hopefully remain; To reduce the number of new cases of obesity in adolescents in the Metropolitan Atlanta Area and Nationally is our number one goal.
